^^ Photo isn't as bad as you state.

So, are we in a "Don't Do" mode here?

Maybe should start a new thread called "What's wrong with this picture?"

Does everyone know what "Focal Point" is or is it just a term that you're throwing around? I've been seeing "focal point" a lot over the last few pages.

The "focal point" is the most interesting area of a photograph. Whatever the eyes are drawn to first is the focal point.

In the photo above, the most interesting part of the photo is the sun's reflection in the arch. There's no real contrast or depth of field used so the whole photo is sort of bland and uninteresting.

The photo of the picnic table covered in ammunition, there appears to be a car in the background but since the bright yellow ammunition is such a high contrast against the picnic table, the car barely exists.

----------------------------------------------------------------
There is a huge difference between someone who takes a photo and someone who is a photographer. Anyone serious about photography will agree with me. Some people have artistic vision behind the lens and some people don't. The fundamentals of photography can be taught, but the capacity to place objects within a frame and create something interesting requires artistic ability. In this thread I've seen some people who are fundamentally sound photographers who have very little artistic vision. Great detail in their photographs, but nothing of interest. I've also seen some people who have artistic vision, but lack the education to bring their vision to life with a camera. There are people who have the know-how and talent, but lack the equipment to make something worthwhile. You need to find your balance and don't stop until you do. Finding a so-so camera and being content with "your style" of photography is absolutely pathetic. Get over yourself. There is always someone better than you and if you're satisfied with amateur hour, then don't come into a photographer's thread complaining about the criticism you have received. Take the note and move on.

May I ask, why the negative feeling you have mac.mogul?

It feels like you are attacking someone here. Not to disagree with what you stated, but to notice how you put your words on here.

I don't deny anyone of adding their photos in here, it's a matter of opinion on subjects and yes we have a varying degrees of photography talent in this thread.

Many people post up to get feedback on how well they are doing, others to just learn more about taking photos.

No need to be negative and put down those who are not "at your level".

Is there really a level? Everyone starts somewhere ... not everyone went out and bought a medium grade SLR and became real good at it. Each person started with a basic camera or borrowing cameras or whatever they could afford and start to just take photos.

Sure many on here are Amateurs at best ... but that doesn't mean they can't achieve a good photo. Or meet a standard that can rival "professionals".

I have met many Amateur photographers who can shoot very very well and can definitely pull his/her weight around some of the pros.

What separates some pros from the "High-class" Amateur's, Attitude.

Attitude reflects your abilities and who you are as a professional.

And good sir, you are not reflecting a very professional manner.

Ray
