28-105mm is a jack of all trades, master of none scenario. It does everything reasonably well but is fantastic at nothing.

any advice would be helpful.
70-200 2.8 or bust.

gotcha. would you say quality is equivalent to that of the 18-55 kit lens that comes with the t2i/t3i? what should I offer him on something like that?

He's also got a 75-300 NON USM that he's asking $100. Is that reasonable? or should I offer him like $85 for it?

isn't that the L series? that's like a $1,000 piece of glass, isn't it? I'm balling on a budget right now with the camera equipment. I have more guns/upgrades for them that need to be purchased first. haha

I dunno anything about the quality...I mean, if you go to f8 or f11 it can't really be that bad...

I would look at some reviews on Amazon.

was checking out some reviews. seems to be a pretty decent/good lens for the price. it's no nifty fifty, but it'll get the job done. I'm actually trading him my cowboy studio backdrop and strobes for the 28-105 USM and 75-300 tomorrow. worked out for me. Didn't want to spend the cash for the lenses, but I don't use my backdrops either.
