I have insurance for my gear ... but I still have a deductible and I am only covered for so much.

That's a good and bad thing ... making money I feel kinda changes a profession once you step from Enthusiast to Pro.

I can do a list of things that I have broken ... sad days.

- Nikon D80 ... rain fall, finished gig ... and that was that.
- Nikon 28-55 2.8-3.5D lens, fell out of my bag from top of bleachers ... didnt crack, just lost connection to rings.
- Nikon SB800 - wind caught it at a family photo session. Timber, crack. Still works, no display. Stuck in Slave.
- Tamron 17-55 2.8 - photographing cars, rolled out of my bag, down hill, hits curve. Stuck in 17mm ... now it's a prime. lol
- AB800 (Alien Bee) - stand actually broke, then comes down the strobe at an event. good bye ... no longer bye cheapo stands.
- AB800 #2 - Fashion Show - one of the models back into the light and here comes the first moving light shot ... for a moment, good bye. Still works, has a major crack on side though.
- Nikon D7000 - Not mine actually, I was using it for a gig from a company, went out on an oil rig for shoot ... something metal came at me, I jumped out of way, camera broke my fall ... yeah, I had a back-up.
- Sony HVRZ7 - Another Oil Rig shoot, myself and another camera operator, go out to this rig with machines called "Shakers" these things shake off dirt from oil to better clean them, we BOTH slipped ... and right in to the oil residue ... we were chin deep, not exactly ideal for video and photo gear.
- Folsom Switcher system - A system that flicks between cameras at a live event. - End of the event thankfully, myself and 4 other guys had to move this platform with all of this gear on it. Someone had the idea to move the whole thing in one swoop ... well, one of the guys slipped and everything fell of this platform ... this $9000 Folsom, comes down, rolls on ground and pops open ... yup ... none of us faired well on that one.
- Vinten Tripod - Myself and 2 other operators are putting together a teleprompter machine with a Sony BETA SP camera together and we then put it on this tripod ... after a while, we hear clicking, look over and the tripod begins to crack and fall, we saved the teleprompter and camera, but the tripod saw it's final stance. We stacked boxes together to finish the shoot for a tripod. lol.

My days as a video/photo guy ... lots of fun stories, and tons of money throw down the drain. ... The life.

ah yup there ya go ray. Tons of fun, but it just happens.
I broke a vehicle lift once... tried to set it down on the locks and one lock missed... broke the cable and left a car sideways but ok. kinda sucks when there's only two lifts and one breaks.

I took my Kodak m753 swimming with me once. it didn't hate me that much.

Btw oipunx... nice to see you share yours as well. someday I'll get an slr... really want one.

I was taking some shots for eBay today and kind of fluked my way into that. I thought it was a bit neat how you could see the tree with the sun peeking through. And no I did not buy that Albinar specifically, it came with something else...

Hole bunch from Formula D Palm Beach I need to edit. No good spots for action shots unless you had a nice old media tags. Too much fencing. I had to go to the top of the bleachers to get most of the track. And still that I just felt like cropping to get out all the distractions. But also love the look of a wide and short crop for moving cars. Thinks it goes with their characteristics But love this one so had to throw it up even though I do not have the nice lenses or a good body for higher ISO shots as the sun goes down.
