Along with another lens.

It's almost standard or from other photogs I've talked to is 3 years or 10k clicks, then get a new body.

^^That's unfortunate, but not surprising. Shame, though, really. My first SLR, a beat up old Pentax k1000 was a relic when I got it, and probably put 1000+ rolls through it over, i don't know, maybe 10 years, and never had a single issue with it. Good ole technology, lol.

Whaaaaaat, only 10k? That's like driving a car to 30k miles and saying it's not worth it anymore.

All the Canon shooters that I know who shoot sports have well over 70k on their shutters before they consider getting it replaced.

But hey, if you only go to 10k then you almost guarantee it will continue working throughout the life of ownership.

I actually know a few photogs running around our area with DSLRs up in the 100K range on most of the formats ... Pentax, Canon, Nikon and we have a fellow photog friend who is reaching the 60s in his Sony.

Each camera is different. The Pro-Level Crop Sensor cameras (7D, A77, D300s, D7000 ... etc) are all pretty much rated to run effectively up to 150K shutters. The lower ones up to 100K (D3100, Rebel, 60D, D5100 ... etc)

Check craigslist and you can score a T2i pretty easily.

If you can, I'd say go for the T3i.

My first SLR was a T1i....second a T2i....and I think I am doing fairly well with the T2i. I feel its a pretty darn good camera plus the added HD Video.

And nice work on the kart. Now when you go to select certain colors or items in your image....you using the channels to isolate and then selecting or are you using the pen tool?

I found a used D80 for a great price.
Just waiting to get a few questions answered.
Looks like their shutter count rating for this camera is around 50k as well
