when you have no social life you learn interesting (?) skills...

here's the rest of my edit.

I would crop vertically, add more headspace, and make it B&W. I would add more feet space too, but there's not enough file to work with...

I like that a lot. I de-saturated it (I think) to remove a lot of the color from it w/out going completely B&W, but I must say, I do like the B&W version you did. Now do you just 'convert to greyscale' in cs5? because when I do that, it doesn't look like a true B&W, more of a dark grey and white (like the one I posted of him kissing her cheek earlier).

in CS4 top menu

Image --> adjustments --> channel mixer --> check monochrome box --> mess with sliders.

NO nno nooooo!!!!!!!

DO NOT CONVERT TO GREY SCALE!!!!!!

Image>adjustments> black & white.

If you go grey scale you will not get good tonal range, ie. black blacks and white whites. It will all look muddy and grey, if you do grey scale. Like you said.

you guys know if there's anyway to convert to a true b&w when editing .raw? Because I usually edit in .raw first.

Yeah. Let me start my computer. It can all be done in RAW. Shot me that file and I'll start my computer and look.
