This is great info as I have a 2012 Ti with the remote start that the dealership installed. I have the push button start so this info will be helpful. Unfortunately, when the dealership said they would put in a remote start, I thought they only had the bi directional option, but it appears I got the one way unit. Is there a way to change out the main unit to get the bi directional or is it a whole different set up? Thanks.

How can I tell if I have the Bi-directional, or one-way model of remote starter?

I believe the bi-directional gives a green led if the start of the car was successful. I believe the actual key fob is a little different as well. I think the bi directional has what looks like an antenna on it.

Not to go too off-topic... but is a bi-directional system ever available as a dealer/factory install? Because I ordered the remote start with my car and won't be too happy if I find out I ended up with a unidirectional system simply due to luck of the draw!

Not sure. I have the uni and I'm fine with it. Although it would be nice to have the keychain transmitter confirm the start-up. I guess if I really wanted to I could re-enable the horn chirps at start up. From most distances (in the house etc) one would be able to hear the beeps to provide the same confirmation.

I hope you get what you're hoping for.

Yeah, the main benefit to me would be when I'm at work or someplace when it's not possible to hear the horn. Would be very nice to have an LED let me know everything's running. On the other hand, the range really isn't great enough to do this in most places...

I just tried programming my Ti Focus and it looks like I have the same 6-option set that you do. Did you ever figure out a way to turn off the auto-shutoff without the 4-honk "tach off" selection? I'm wary of selecting that option as I know it isn't the car's actual setup.
