2012 - CAI, Exahust, Tune = Better MPG?

I know it's an all new motor and no one probably has proof....but based on older models....will an intake, exhaust, and a proper tune give you better MPG? How much of a difference? Tuning for MPG sounds scary...wouldn't want to go lean!

I looked around...couldn't find any info.

Really liking my 2012!

Thanks.

The air intake would definitely help. The exhaust may help a little bit but you would have to go with at least a cat back.

^The car is brand new. Don't tell the guy it'll help when you have no proof one way or the other. Yes odds are it might help, but then there's the bugeye WRX's where people thought a cheap intake would help. Sadly it didn't and a bunch of people got screwed. Or the PZEV Focus where people bought an intake and came to find out it didn't want to run well anymore.

The car is brand new. Drive it just like it is until you see a need to change something.

Your telling me an air intake like a short ram with a kn&n isnt gonna help? even if you throw in just a upgraded air filter it should help a little bit.......

Can I say without a doubt, no. So I won't advise the guy to try it or not. Just because advertising claims better mileage, more HP, a subservient wife with big yabos; doesn't mean it works for everyone all the time.

Posted via FF Mobile An intake should, because the engine is still a duratec and Im sure the intake box is still a big chambered mess of plastic like those that came before it. Very restrictive. But as of now there are no aftermarket parts out yet, so nothing can be done.

And I dont recall anyone with a pzev engine focus havig any problems with intakes.

Is anything what it claims to be?

What does the new focus commercial say 47MPG? Does it really get that?

Posted via FF Mobile Up to 40, because only the sfe focus gets 40mpg, the others get 38.

Yeah, like I said, kinda looking at what helped older models....understanding there's no guarantee the same tricks will work on the latest motor. Really depends on how restraining the stock intake/exhaust is.

So it sounds like a CAI, CBE, and a tune was a formula for better MPG in previous years.

Yeah they still have those motors. and ford most likely didnt change the intake box funnel thing. So a air intake should help. Thank you for supporting that part of my comment.
