OK, third try:
Dealer in NC is trying to charge us a Doc Fee of $409, even though D plan specifies that they're only allowed to charge us up to $100. I told them about the D plan specifications, and the salesperson is ready to get the deal done, but his manager is complaining and saying that he won't come down off the $409 doc fee.

We have had to do all of this by phone as we live 5 hours from the dealership. What should we do? Also, I know the D plan says they need to see documentation (pay stubs, marriage certificate, ect), but how common is it for them to ask us to provide these documents? I have the D plan certificate.
Why aren't you buying from the dealership you or your immediate family member works at? You know they can try to obtain one from other dealers, too, or you could order one.

If they won't honor the max doc fee move on.

First off that will strip them of their Plan eligibility and secondly you shouldn't buy from them if that is their mindset.

We live in a different region of the country, and I don't want to order one because I want the car sooner rather than later.

I found an 800 number to call about D plan pricing issues and am going to call Monday. The weird thing is, with the vehicle not even on the lot yet it seems like a good thing for them-- they turn the car around before they even receive it. A dealership in their area has a similarly-built one in black that has been on the lot for 2 weeks (my wife really liked the grey more, so we're going for that instead).

Edit: the car we're looking at, FWIW:
SEL in Grey, moonroof and Rapid Spec 301A

We had been looking at black and red candy, but my wife really likes the grey metallic. If we had one built, we'd probably go with SE, Sport Package, Rapid Spec 203A, auto trans., and moonroof, which would clock us in around $1k cheaper, but the car we're looking at has all of that, minus spoiler, plus the MFT/Sony package, which is cool even though I don't want to pay for it.

On the Sony package, it is really hard to get info. Does anyone know if it has an external amp and if so where it is located?

Wow- not bad- I can get 3.64 from the bank at 60. But 2.9 for 36 is enticing.

What is the other $500 for - what do I need to ask for?

Ford ties in the financing to the $500 rebate, you have to finance with Ford to get the 2.9%. If you took 3.64% from your bank you lose $500.

question - I ordered my focus last night. I did not know about the xplan. We negotiated a price. however that price included no Ford discounts as I was told we wait and see what those are when the car arrives. Can I still use the xplan discount?
