What was your price before incentives? And do you know how much the TTL ended up costing you? I'll be in the market late next year and wanted to start tracking prices.

Price before incentives is the MSRP, not sure how relevant it is, but I believe it was $19900 or so. Our tax is 9%, and then all the fees, overall add 10% to sales price. You are in North CA, so check your county sales tax rate and you will have an idea. Also CA DMV has a calculator that tells you how much it will cost to register a new (or used) car.

Everyone talks about getting "Fords way under MSRP" on a different board that I'm at. Is that really just off base or a fantasy? You seemed to be where I thought the car would be priced at (and then incentives taken off that).

Thanks, I'll check out the DMV calculator. Didn't know that they had one their site.

Hello Ira,
I'm looking for what price to pay on the following:

2014 SE Hatch
Automatic
Winter Package
Black or White paint
Power code remote start (I think this is dealer installed?)
Black interior (Standard?)

My area code is 48359- anywhere in Metro Detroit is doable for me.
I've never bought a new Ford before
I have excellent credit

Truecar.com has a guaranteed price of $18,051....not sure how good this is as far as the "bottom line" is concerned.

Thanks in advance!
David

Hi Ira,
Live in Michigan, zip 48038. Working with a dealer who has 3 2013 focus se's, 5 speed manual transmissions on the lot.

1 is tuxedo black with :
arctic white leather package
moonroof
201a package
myfordtouch/sony/nav package
17" alloy black machined wheels
reverse sensing
winter package
msrp 26,230

the other 2 cars are white oxford with:
arctic white leather package
moonroof
201a package
myfordtouch/sony/nav package
se appearance black package
reverse sensing
winter package
msrp 26,530

all 3 cars have following rebates available:

$1500 Retail Customer Cash and $1500 Ford Credit Retail Bonus Customer Cash and $1000 Retail Bonus Customer Cash and $500 Focus Manual Transmission Bonus Customer Cash
or
$1500 Ford Credit Retail Bonus Customer Cash and $1000 Retail Bonus Customer Cash and $500 Focus Manual Transmission Bonus Customer Cash and 0.0% APR for 48 months

I have out the door quote of approx. $22,084.22 on the black car after incentives have been applied. I know that i have to go thru ford financing to quality for some of the rebates. The white car will be little more and I am leaning more towards the white.

I not sure why the cars have been on the lot for this long but believe is due to
the arctic white package and manual transmission options (tougher to lease or sell)

With all this said and not knowing what the dealer has invested in the cars and how they are able to further clearance them, is it possible to negotiate additional 1,000 to 1,500 off the price i have been quoted?
thanks....
Attila

Feb 15, 2014 update:

I purchased one of the white focus cars I listed above and was able to negotiate additional $500 off plus dealer matched premium ESP of 7/100k 50 deduct extended warranty price from another Ford dealer. Total (including extended warranty) was 23,027.99 out the door.

Sweet, thanks!

Do you happen to know anything about "auto show coupons" that Ford gives out?

I've heard stories of people only receiving $50 test drive vouchers to others getting $1000 off on their car (although some cars are restricted... $1000 off on a Fusion is what I was told).

Yup, I have a couple of ladies that go to St Louis every year, and just come in and drive a Lincoln for the $50 gifts.

As for the other vouchers, ford does lots of direct and marketed type rebates, as well as some sweeping organizational ones. Sometimes you can get the vouchers for things as simple as requesting a brochure on line, or being a member or customer of a certain business. These change from time to time of course.

As for a direct offer for Fusion regarding something from the auto shows, I will tell you there are a whole bunch of potentially eligible programs but I dont see anything directly related to an auto show at the moment. That does not mean it has not or will not happen.

disclaimer: I am looking in rebates for my area, for your zip code, they may be different

Thanks!

The $1000 auto show offer was referenced by a poster on reddit that said he had one for a Fusion. He hasn't gotten back to me when I asked if it would work on other models. Not sure what the fine print is on that particular coupon.

As of now, I am aware of (programs that I can use): $500 ford.com brochure, $500 AQHA, and $500 recent grad. Hopefully I'll be able to add whatever the local auto shows have. I'm pretty sure I can use those three in conjunction with each other, so hopefully the auto show can be stacked as well.

UH ohhhhhhh

Sorry to say this. But you typically cannot combine AQHA and recent grad, and I have not seen the program for the Auto Show or Brochure rebates, but my bet is that you cannot combine one or both of those with them either. If you wanted to give me your zip code, I could check on eligibility for you.
