True. It was a very odd experience.

Buyer's remorse you go home, haven't signed anything change your mind and they never see you again.

Heck I've taken deposits on people who have never come in again. Even when I call them and I'm like "do you want your money back" and they hang up.

Equipment: 203A
Color (In order of preference): Sterling Grey, Sonic Blue, Kona Blue, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Tux Black
Exterior/Interior: SE Sport Package

I'm expecting invoice to be around $19.5k. Would prefer no other options, but willing to take winter package if absolutely necessary. I found some M/Ts around St. Louis, but those have since disappeared. Seems either Focii in general or M/T's are selling hotter now, will that affect future months' incentives?

Currently driving a 1997 with 200k+ miles. Wasn't planning on trading it in, but mentioning in case there's incentive there.

Plan on getting loan at credit union at 1.9% before negotiating with dealers. I'm a federal civilian employee, not sure if that that carries any benefits.

I'm aware of a $2k rebate (told not tied to FMCC) until Apr 2. I've signed up for a brochure on Ford's website, so hope to have the mailer/brochure rebate at least in the system.

imccrea, are there any nearby with prices and any other rebates available?

Would other members here suggest using auto programs like Costco or USAA rather than negotiating over email/phone? Does anybody have experiences with negotiating dealer trades when the exact car you want is in another lot?

Thanks again.
There are no SE sport pkg in IL (closest in Madison, WI) in the top 4 colors you are looking for. You'd either have to order one or just fly out of state. The one in WI has invoice of $20,394 (Winter pkg also). You can order and lock your incentives in or hope to find one but there are only a few per region currently.

Costco is probably your best pricing resource as USAA is having issues with compliance in certain states right now but both offer the same price within $100.

On Friday night I traded in my 2007 XLT Escape FWD with 74k miles for $7k. Dealer initially offered $6k, but came back with $7k.

Here was my frustration -- the salesman (Larry) knew nothing about the Focus. I knew more than he did, which was frustrating. Fortunately I had done my homework, and knew what I wanted.

One odd thing was this -- it was a Friday night, we went in at around 6pm (dealer closes at 8), and they were insistent that we close the deal and I take delivery Friday night. I had told them I'd buy it, but that I'd rather come back Saturday morning to finish up the paperwork, but they really didn't want me to do that. We ended up finishing at 9:45pm.

Why were they so adamant about me taking delivery the night of the sale?

I had A-Plan pricing, so I ended up leasing a 2012 Candy Blue 202A with the Fuel Economy package for 2 years with 12k miles a year. I applied $1700 of my trade in value, plus an additional $2100 down, plus #500 RCL cash to come to payments of $200.51 a month. They also threw in SiriusXM Satellite radio for no additional charge.

Did I get a good deal?

Thanks again imccrea!
exactly what others said, there is more than a 50% chance that you won't come back even though you have a verbal agreement. You receive A plan so I think any A plan is the best deal out there. As far as your trade goes that's about market value for the Escape, with the redesign coming out we'll see what the older body styles drop to in price or if they stay the same.

Build out (last day of production is 7/1) Your last day to order is probably 2 months prior but they haven't released that info yet.

Order guides should hopefully be out in April for 2013, not sure if ST will be included in that guide.

Thanks a whole lot, I am going to wait for 2013, or even '14. By then I hope some options are cheaper, or standard. I want Sirius but not MFT, and 16" alloys without a package.

Ford won't be making options cheaper but they might create new order packages based on 2012 sales figures.

Quite a service you're offering to the forum members, imccrea. I'm sure all your efforts (on your own time, I'm sure) are appreciated.

I don't have a Focus anymore (totaled it), but my daughter still drives one, and once she gets a paying job, a new Focus will be the only car on her list.

Reading all the posts, it seems the new Focus must be very popular. We're about 6/7 months into the first year run, and the dealers are finding it virtually impossible to keep any in stock? Or am I not reading this correctly? Is Ford wanting to do a more 'European' order/build/delivery process on the Focus, and reduce the dealers unsold inventory? Is this what the U.S. auto industry wants?

I think it's more of just trying to find one with the options you want v. being able to buy from stock. There are so many different options that it is difficult. I'm sitting on 53 Focus currently with another 65 in my other store location that I can pull from. But of those 100+ vehicles there might not be exactly what a customer wants.

Ford is pushing orders for sure but still stocking inventory is good.
