I got a call from the dealer today telling me they got the grinding noise during shifts to reduce greatly by reprogramming the drive cycle on transmission. It is less severe now, but still there. They said it should also reduce even more with more miles and that it takes a while for the clutch to break in.

I'm not entirely convinced but I figure it's been documented should any problems arise in the future.

The day I picked up the car from dealer repairing the failed A/C, sync stopped working (fixed by disconnecting battery - can't wait until the next software update, because I still love the MFT). Then when I turn onto my street, the tranny starts free reving and I'm still in drive. It acted as if I was in neutral but of course I wasn't. I moved into park, and then back into drive and it worked again. This could be very dangerous, thankfully I was on a residential street with no other cars behind me.

Eek. A similar thing happened to me when the control unit for my Jetta's DSG started to fail. I would bring it to the dealer and see if they can pull a fault code.

Ahh the car went from 4th gear to 3rd gear to neutral and then back to 3rd this morning.

I am was then able to get to work on time but this certainly has me worried. Hopefully the tranny will work okay for our long trip this weekend.
I've got an appointment for the 14th. Hopefully the car threw a code.

I didn't have this for the first two weeks since I got my car but, now I feel a judder a second or two after a gear shift. Due to the transmission? SE Auto btw.

Does anyone have access to Ford's service bulletins? It would be great to see them here when/if they are posted. Not just on the DSG, but on anything relevant to the new 2012 Focus.

I've noticed the shudder when transitioning from brake to throttle starting from a stop. It seems to me that Ford is trying to emulate an automatic and lets the clutch disengage before throttle is full on, letting the car shudder a move forward a little (but not smoothly). I didn't expect that. I thought the clutches would keep the car in neutral after a full stop until gas was applied. I don't think our car has a problem at this point, it is just doing what it is programmed to do. It's different than a slush box.

I am interested in getting any re-flashes when they become available, to make sure our car has the latest rev in engine and transmission management, so a list of service patches/rev numbers/releases would be great. IIFC, you can get rev information by putting the display into the test mode, correct?

Unfortunately Ford has it programmed exactly this way. Audi brought over the first set of DSG gearboxes very early in the decade with the behavior you describe and they got nothing but complaints. So they ended up re-programming the gear boxes to emulate automatics.
I would really love to see all the bulletins. Bentley, once you had a subscription, gave you access to the VW bulletins. Is there anything like that for Ford?

I love mine. Don't use the manual mode much, the computer does a great job at shifting. I do put it in sport mode a lot though.

Do you remember how long it took Audi to do that?
