I just test drove a sedan SE today with 203A package. I noticed that the transmission is very jerky at slow speed in the city (20-25mph). Even on a highway its shuddered a few times at 60-70mph. I wonder if S mode will help reduce all of this. Another thing is that car I test drove was almost out of gas. I wonder if this is the reason for all of the jerkiness that I experienced.

I was almost on E (on my way to get gas) and noticed the car was being a little more "jerky" than usual.. After a fill up it's been much better.

My Focus has about 1200 mi on it so far, and I'm liking the DSG overall. However, am I the only one at this mileage hearing sounds like I'm dragging a metal can under the car at low speeds? Seems to be similar to what tigertiger was describing, but it's always present at parking-lot types of speed. Calms down slightly when I put it in park, but sometimes still hear a few sporadic rattles.

I know these transmissions can be a little more noisy, but it sounds like something in the transmission is just... rattling around. Nature of the DSG tranny beast?

Nope. Mine is as quiet as a church mouse.

i only have 500 miles on my sel but already i feel the transmission being much smoother than when i first drove it... perhaps it's partly the transmission 'learning' my driving style and partly me... I don't have any shudder as take off as in the beginning (using drive not sport) and it all seems to work as advertised....gas mileage is great too,,, 30 round town and 39 hwy.. can't complain ... my zx3 couldn't touch that... was lucky to get 31 hwy on the 'o1....

Well that's enough consensus for me, time to get the dealership involved. Thanks all!

I wonder if Sport mode will drive like a 5 speed automatic. Is this true?

I have 2600 on mine and have the same issue. I'm going to tell the dealership I think
