I'd like to see more in the range of 35mpg, but I realize at highways speeds of 75-80 that's not going to happen. But that's still 100 more miles to a tankful than my SVTF got, so I am pretty happy with it.

We'll see what happens when the car breaks in after a few thousand miles and also after I switch to Amsoil full synthetic.
80mph is quite fast to get good mileage.. 30.7 mpg is quite decent at that! I have to be going around 105 km/h (65mph ish) to get over 40mpg. I can get around 48 if I go around 75 km/h and be extremely delicate with the throttle on hills and no headwind.

I even once managed 5.08 l/100 km on a trip from Ottawa to Toronto in my Mazda3 2.0 a few years ago... I had a very sore ankle from being so fragile on the gas the whole way though... wasn't worth it!

just did a round trip yesterday, Ann Arbor, MI to Cincinnati. Drove 72 in Ohio and 75 in Michigan. Got 38.7 on way down and 39.8 on way back, both with A/C on. Turned over 10k on way back.

2012 Titanium Hatchback, no mods

First tank:

388 miles on 10.75 gallons = 36.1 mpg

If it's going to get even better after break in then

Filled up this morning after a full week of commuting. Computer readout was 39.3mpg, and manually calculated it was 39.9mpg. You can see I've got just over 18,000 miles on the car.

5-speed manual transmission. Regular 87 octane gas. Probably 85% interstate driving at 65-70mph.

An easier way, if you REALLY wanted to get into it, would be to weigh the car before and after each test to measure fuel used. That's how Popular Mechanics did it.
Kam, that mileage at 70 -75 is pretty consistent with what a found on a recent 3,000 mile trip. Not surprisingly, wind speed and direction can make a big difference in fuel economy at highway speed; I'd bet in your case winds were calm or maybe slightly helpful?

Which brings up another point: the Focus is actually a terrific trip car, being quiet, composed, economical and generally very comfortable. Those who use it only for commuting or around-town are missing something. (Plus the DCT is relegated to a bit role in the Interstate!)

Just relying on dash readout; 33.3 mpg with 50% highway, 25% country rd, 25% city. Set the cruise to 68 on highway and 58 on country rd.

Not happy with the 34.3mpg. Would be very happy with the 36.8 if it were real. Why the differance? It would seem with the sophiticated electonics it should be better that 2.5 off.
