I'll be taking a road trip tonight to Champaign, IL (which may or may not involve copious amounts of drinking...)

Speaking of ethanol, I'll be filling up at an ethanol-free gas station in Normal, IL. I'll let you guys know how much it effects my gas mileage!

600 miles on the car. Mostly being fuel conscious but also 3rd gear only back road romps and quick merges daily. Avg 31.8mpg. Got up to a personal best 33.2 cruising at 70mph yesterday.

My first readings. Car has less than 500 miles.
28.43mpg
70 City 30 Hwy

This should improve as the engine breaks in.

I didn't see any difference in MPGs after the "break in" period last year. I did see a drop in efficiency over the winter, which I'm assuming is due to the cold weather fuel mix. Curious to see if that bounces back this spring.

As an aside, the Focus Electric just got certified at 105 MPG, which is the best available.

I was really hoping for a 32mpg average w this car. But I do drive 70mph on the hwy so maybe this is not reality.

Unless most of your driving is stop and go, obtaining a 32 mpg should be no problem at all. You just need to adjust your driving style; you don’t need to drive slow, just the opposite actually, accelerate at a moderate pace, not slow; anticipate traffic, and manage your inertia properly… A good example of this is to let the car accelerate going downhill and use that energy to help get you up the next hill, the worst thing you can do is hit the brakes going downhill and have to lug back up the hill… My car before this one was an 89 thunderbird super coupe, so I’m not a hyper miler… I am averaging over 37 mpg since new so far…

I think you can during the summer but it's hilly in Hamilton so that will affect it a bit if you work the gas a lot. Steady throttle should get you there though.

I'm south of Dayton and it was not until I was over 1500 that I got 30+mpg. I'm at 32.4 w/ winter gas now.

Like the others said, 32mpg should be no problem. On an "aggressive" tank of gas, I'm getting 33-34, and it's typically up closer to 36. And I only have 5 gears, while you've got 6.

My big advantage is that I'm on the interstate doing 60-70mph most of the time, and once I'm off the interstate I don't have too many stoplights to deal with.
