I've been averaging between 30 and 31, for the car's entire time on the road. That's all city driving too, save for maybe 100 kilometers of highway.

I've got nearly 15,000 miles on my Focus at this point, and have averaged 35.5mpg over the life of the car. My mpg for each tank depends totally on how I drive the car. I can get close to 40mpg if I'm extremely careful, or sometimes I average closer to 33mpg if I'm heavy-footed.

5 speed manual.

My average since day one is 36.3 4300 miles so far, my average over the last 2 months has been 37.3 mpg... most of my driving is rural, with about 15% highway...

Wow that 41.4 mpg tank was phenominal. What kind of driving did you do on that tank?

I know the manual said the first few thousand miles were going to be iffy with gas mileage but i only got 22 mpg with my first fill-up. is that normal? well most driving was city. like a 95% city 5% hwy. only got 246 miles out the tank. filled up with 11 gallons. Hopefully it gets better once break in is done.

I constantly sit around 30-32 MPG due to how close I live to work. I will be trying out the ram air mod to see if it will up my MPG any.

That is pretty bad. My first tank was about 31 in suburban driving. I would expect maybe a 5% increase in mpg after break in but it's not going to jump above 30 mpg for you in the same driving conditions. Are you idling a lot or something? 22 is the kind of mileage that the magazines get in compacts when really putting the cars through their paces, hard accelerations, etc. Try coasting to stops more and turning the car off at long stoplights to try to make a real difference.

yea looking at it right now i did idle alot and im not going to lie i did drive a little crazy here and there. this tank is looking promising so hopefully now that ive gotten the speeding out of my system .... somewhat.... i should see some improvements. on a side note has anyone noticed discrepancies with the Miles Left to Empty gauge? when i put gas earlier it showed 290 miles left. drove around for a bit and parked the car.when i parked it, it had showed 280 miles left. went to start right now and showed 303 miles left. just wondering if thats normal? thanks in advance.

If your mileage average is going up, your miles to empty will reset, and go up also...
