Ok, here are my fuel ups after 1638 Km and in the break in period. I am very happy with it, because I sure didn't drive it like a grany. And yes, I did have a 40 mpg on a hwy trip (at 62 mph), and I am sure it will be even better in time. What you see is the MPG in a 60-40 City/Hwy, with some "leadfoot" and S mode driving in the city and 70 mph - 80 mph hwy in D mode.

I'm wondering why these new 2012 Foci aren't getting better freeway mileage. The 2 week roadtrip I did this summer in a 2011 Focus was 3K miles and 2200miles of it was between 70 and 85mph. The other 800 miles was between 25 and 50 and in traffic. It's overall average was 37.6mpg with a slushbox. I have yet to average above 34mpg in the 2012, but have an easy time getting to 36mpg in the 2011.

I drive aggressively, and can't really complain that my commuting average is 28mpg when the only car I've had that did better was an '80 Prelude with way less power. I'm still averaging 10mpg better than the Mustang and 7mpg better than the last 4cyl I drove.

I've had my SEL sedan since July. I'm getting 37 mpg if I behave, doing the speed limits, not pushing too hard on the "go" pedal, 33mpg when I drive it normally. One thing to consider when comparing vehicles is which one is a nicer car to drive, not just the mpg. I compared my Focus to an Elantra, the mpg "king", and well, we know what I bought.

I average somewhere between 32 and 35, I just checked the air in my tires yesterday, down to 31 all the way around... put it back up to 35 (like the door sticker says) and will see if that helps

I filled up the other day and did a good bit of highway driving, between 55-60mph. My average was 44mpg, It's down in the 30's now after a good bit of city driving, not too shabby!

My interstate mileage is terrible on trips ~33 average (78 mph). I get around 29 on daily interstate "stop and go" / city driving for work. When I fill up and there's no traffic I'll go 60 mph only and see the MPG stick around 40 but I'm not going on a long interstate drive at 60 mph when. I'll do 78 mph and it goes back to 33 average.

i realize i'm in LA so city traffic sucks, but so does my MPG. 22 or so in the city, and if it's on the freeway (w/o traffic) i can get about 29. 700 miles on the car. : /

With the cooler temps I'm getting 26.5 to 27.9 with mixed city freeway driving, down from 28.5 to 30. I checked my Trip 2 mpg gauge, which I don't believe I've reset since I picked up the car in May and it read 32.7.

Whoa - saw 46.5MPG on my titanium! :D

So, I reset the Avg. MPG just as I was getting on the highway for the 20-25min (~25km) drive home. I find it's very easy to get the Focus to up the Avg. MPG with use of a bit of pump and glide.

By the time I pulled in the driveway, it read 46.5MPG (not sure how accurate the computer is though). Outside Temp was about 11C and I was driving between 100-116km/h.
