I get about 38MPG on highway travel and about 27MPG in the congested start and stop city. Dips to as low as 23MPG with AC on in the city.

After a jaunt around in the country, (1,600mi on odo) I have been gettin better mpgs around town.With little jumpss on local freeway bits, and in city streets i am getting 40'ishmpg. I really take it easy and ion freeway am only going 50mph..
City streets at speed limit, with slow starts..
So i am VERY pleased with the mpg i ma getting now.
When i first got the car it was less..

I am keeping track of fillups and mileage. So I will see in awhile what the recent calculated mpgs are.
Takes awhile to empty the tank!!

(Can't take my car home from the dealer until Thursday, but) test drove my car and I got average 30 mpg just driving around for 10 miles. Can't wait to boost that number espcially since my 2001 SE gets crap mpg's. So 30 mpg just driving around for 10 miles, I got so excited

Ok, here is my experience till now :

- first tank : 8,5 L/100 km. I drove in S mode and on highway between 110 and 130 Km/h. Hwy / City : 70/30
- second tank: 9,1 L/100 km. S/D 50-50, hwy 110/120km/h, Hwy/City: 40/60 (and the circulation in Montreal is a real PITA nowadays).
- third tank: I am on it right now : 7,8 L/100 km (City+Hwy). I still drive in S/D and give it some 140-150 km/h from time to time to break it in at higher speeds.
I tested on 60 km round trip the following :
- first 30 km speed 115-120 km/h --> 7.2 L/100 km
- last 30 km speed 105 km/h (cruze for the first time) --> 5.8 L/100 km
The 30 km were from A to B, the other 30 km from B to A.

So, to sum it up: I am really glad with the results. I am at 1100 km now, so another 500 km at least not using the cruze and still breaking it in. When I am in the city, I am not baby-sitting it, I push it just right. In my opinion, the Focus I have is a car that give's me the driving pleasure I bought it for. Yes, great mileage is great, but... I will not drive on the highway at 70 km/h (10 km above the lower speed limit) only to gain 1 L /100 km. But again, this is just me.

Reading this stuff in Metric units makes my head spin....
I know how big centimeters are..(thus a meter, and mm.. ) and a liter..
But the rest is beyond my grasp.

For Elizabeth (and everyone else) :

8,5 L/100Km = 29,4 MPG
9,1 L/100Km = 26,14 MPG
7,2 L/100Km = 33,6 MPG
5,8 L/100Km = 40,56 MPG

Convert MPG to L/100Km and viceversa.
Convert Km/h to mph and viceversa.

Filled the tank and reset the mpg on my way home this afternoon. I was getting 47 mpg on the expressway! I was tempted to keep on driving past my exit to see how high I could get it. I was driving about 60 mph. Dropped down to 41 mpg once I was on the sidestreets.
