The main thing is the addition of direct injection and the high compression ratios. The Mk3 Engine is all new to the Ford line-up as of 2012+. Unfortunately the Focus is also the only car running it n/a. We'll have a tune eventually, but it may come out of bench tuning and cracking ECU's via hackers and such unless some other company picks up the ball.

The only use of the 2.0 L GDI engine is the Focus at the moment.

ive been getting about 27. but most of my commute is freeway... i dont get it... my 2006 mitsubishi eclipse (2.4L) would get 26 and my 2010 scion xb got 28.... the both are rated with lower mgps if im not mistaken and the focus is lighter, smaller engine, and aerodynamic... what gives?

How fast do you drive? MPG is important to me, I try to keep it below 65 when I commute, usually at 60. If I did that in my Explorer with the 4.0 I'd get 25 MPG, unfortunately with the traffic I drive it keeping a constant speed is impossible, but keeping a max speed isn't.

I have 7300-ish miles on it and have the dct. I drove the eclipse and xB hard and thought that this might be the reason for the lox mpg in the focus. I've done a mix of both tamed driving and aggressive depriving habits and haven't seen any variance. It's very disappointing. I might as well have gone with the escape.

Good lord, I don't know how I made that so complicated in my own head. I thought I had to "adjust" for the partial fill-up. Thanks.

The only adjustment is to calculate using the total number of miles driven divided by the total # of gallons added to fill the tank in order to figure out what the average should be. If you were trying to figure out the mileage at the 29x mile point without having filled the tank that might be were you got stuck in a trap because you don't have the data at that point.

After 5,000 miles, I'm getting 41 - 42 mpg, mostly 62MPH on Southern California freeways. I've had it up to 51+ twice, on cool, quite mornings on the desert, but I think I might have been on a very slight downgrade...
