Ok, I've done the fill up and the result was 39.5 mpg and in the end, the "distance to E" = 759 km.

It was a nice trip and I am very happy about how this car performs. I am not a "granny" type person (as my fuelly shows) and I like to have fun while driving my Focus but I really enjoy it also as a long-trip-runner.

i'm on my second tank... first was dealer filled, this tank is shell 91.

i've been stomping on the pedal alot, no granny driving as I want to break in the tranny.

I've got about 1/4 of a tank left and so far this tank has been 24.5 mpg (10.4 L/100kms). this is city highway mix with a fair bit of traffic on the highway.

i'm not going to worry about mileage for now, i'm just going to drive it in a spirited fashion for the next few tanks.

I gotta say with under 800kms on the odo the tranny has already smoothed out quite a bit.

For the trip back, we were only two and the same driving conditions and I saw 5.8 l/100 km (40.56 mpg) and a distance to E of 811 km (503 mi) (I have a movie showing it, but was unable to upload it for now). WOW, it is a great little car.

Hello again Voldar,

I did fill up this morning and even got a bit more fuel in it by adding one additionnal ''click'' to the pump. My distance to ''E'' was 560 KM. I just dont know how you acheived a 764 KM...did you add an extra fuel tank somewhere? I got this 560 kn distance to E from immediatly getting in the car, before lauching the engine. As I went along on highway 132, my numbers slowly dwingled down. Care to share your magic 'cause I'll need some of it soon as I'll be hitting Tadoussac in a couple of weeks.

Are you going to post some pictures with the whales ?
I'll do better than that, I'll post some video's. Pictures are my wife's thing as I have no clue how to operate those monsters she uses.

Kaaru, it's because he got 39MPG on his previous tankful before fueling up.
Btw, I just did an Ottawa-T.O. run this past weekend and going there I filled up on Shell 87 (because it was cheap) and only got 36.4MPG, on the way back I made a point to fill up with Petro-Canada 87 in the GTA and got 40.2MPG on the way back and had about 17 litres (almost half a tank) left after 4.5 hrs of driving!

Moral of the story is avoid Shell gas here in Eastern Canada (must be the high ethanol content or that stupid Nitrogen cleaning agent).

I have a 2012 SE hatch with 293 miles on it now and I was driving 75 mph on the highway and I was getting 35 mpg and driving around town I am getting 27 mpg so overall I am getting about 30 mpg but the car is still new and I was using the A/C which no matter how fuel efficient your car is, the A/C eats up the gas. I am sure that in time my MPG will go up. I went from a 2011 Jeep Wrangler that was getting 12 to 15 MPG so anything over 20 for me is great. However I am looking forward to seeing closer to 40 mpg on the highway and 30's around town... I am sure that when the car breaks in more I will get closer to that...

Ok, there is no magic at all. As per my fuelly () my usual 50Hwy-50City driving gives me about 28-30 mpg => distance to E of 540-580 km. As I explained, running 105 km/h = 65 mph on a long trip (more than 500 km), gave me the distance to E I posted, in a 90Hwy-10City driving. Nothing more than this.

+1 to this.
I never use Shell gas here. I did used it in Europe, but even there, Shell was not a great brand. I know, our friends from South are all into Shell, but from my experience, the Shell gas is different somehow from theirs. It bits me why, but this is my experience with it. The Shell Diesel though is great !
I only use Petro Canada gas.

Bought the car for the wife to drive to/from work...so her style of driving is a little different than mine. Haven't quite seen the 38mpg yet...though she did hit 37 a couple of weeks ago.

Pushing 5500 miles, so I'm sure it's broke in by now. Maybe once it drops below 90F and she doesn't have the a/c cranked over for all it's worth the mileage might improve.
