Talking Focus Rising 2011: Official Florida Caravan Discussion Thread!

Its getting closer and closer every day so its time to get OFFICIAL!

For all those planning on attending the most epic nationwide event of all time, and all of you should be, this is where we will discuss our crew's preparedness and route!

There are two route options for us, the first is the most direct and is about 17 hours of driving:

The second is the one we have always taken in the past, due to convoy meet ups/shacking locations which takes us through Atlanta and is about 19 hours of driving:

We will be meeting up with other convoys along the way and will be discussing all that information as it is available.

As of now, my plan is to leave Thursday, June 2nd at sometime and get as much driving in as possible or get to our proposed shacking spot. Personally, I'd like to not spend any money on hotels on the way up there and just meet up/shack up with members along the route. More on that later as well.

More info on the event can be found here:

Are you guys planning on driving all the way up to Roanoke Thursday? Reason i'm asking is we are planning on meeting in Roanoke Friday morning like we did last year. Here's the info..

(Copied from FLF)

Last year me, Josh, and Mark planned a meet at Cracker Barrel in Roanoke, VA for a good hearty breakfast so we wouldn't have to stop for another meal on the way up to Carlisle. Roanoke is a perfect location since almost anyone coming from the South/South west have to go through it on I-81 on the way to Carlisle. We had about 8 Foci when we left and it made the trip up to Carlisle much more enjoyable.

I say we do it again! The enterance to Cracker Barrel wasn't bad at all and they had plenty of parking to accomidate us. I am thinking we should meet there at 8 AM on Friday (June 3rd). You have to figure we will probably spend close to a hour eating there. Then from there it is a 4 hour drive to Carlisle and when you factor in 1 stop for gas that puts us getting to Hotel Carlisle at around 1:30 PM. What do you guys think??

Address of Cracker Barrel meeting spot: 3153 Lee Highway, Troutville, VA

Meeting up at Cracker Barrel at 8 AM en route to Carlisle!

We'll have to see, that's a long long long day on day one, unless we got up earlier on Friday and drove to Roanoke like we did last year.

Yes that completely depends on our schedule. Going that route adds 2 hours to the time but does add an easy stayover point. I guess we'll be discussing it as we go here.
