Extra HP out of the 2.0L 2012 Focus Ti-VCT?
Hey Peeps,
I am just inquiring in general, about simple mods for my 2012 focus. I don't get it till April 29th, but I want to take it right back in for the weekend to have a few things done. I am above average with mechanics, but I actually want anything I do to this car to be done by Ford directly, for warranty purposes. Sounds lame, but I know a mechanic at a dealership, so it actually works out to be a pretty good deal. I also have the peace of mind. In any event, can anybody make recommendations for relatively cheap, but effective, and clean looking performance mods? Intake and exhaust where already considered. I want about 180HP or so. Any ideas are certainly welcome.

Well its not going to be an EcoBoost however I'm sure drop-in filters will be available soon after launch.

I thought it was called an ecoboost, but I trust you. I really have no idea :)

No, we still get the Duratec with this one. Albeit with Direct Injection, and Ti-VCT. The ecoboost is the 2.0L with twin Turbos. Or the 3.5L With Twin turbos. You might be thinking of the GM Ecotec, which is their "duratec" Standard DOHC 4 cylidner.

Finding 20hp in a new 160hp engine will be not be easy, that would be a 12.5% increase. You may find a drop in K&N filter soon as already mentioned. I would be happy with finding 5-10hp to start with.
Do a google search, the new Ecoboost 4 cyl will single turbo, the 3.5L V-6 ecoboost is twin turbo. |

Hey Outlaw, I think you are right, I am thinking of the GM engine.
In any event, does anyone have any other ideas?

-Cold-air intake
-Full Exhaust -Race Headers -Tune If any of these are even available...but they should easily net you 180+ HP done right. |

I went up about 17HP in my Escort GT with only an intake, exhaust and header. That thing only started at 127HP...i think....maybe 135...i forget the Mazda 1.8 DOHC from that era. But I think 180 should be obtainable.
Because I want this extra power, everyone says to me "You should have waited for an ST focus". The difference is buying an 2012 SEL 5spd, then modding a few things later, I get more of what I want, and I can spread the cost out. I can barely afford this 2012 SEL as it is. I really shouldn't be doing it now, but I sort of HAVE to get a new car anyway, and really could not wait for the ST. Meh :)

Yes parts will eventually come out. I'd imagine FSWERKS will be first with their Ford connections.
