04 SVTF or 03 SPEC-V????
Okay so here is the deal. I have recently test driven two different cars, a 04 SVTF and a 03 SPEC-V. The thing is that I liked both just about equal. I liked the styling on both cars and i liked the interior room on both cars. They are just about equal in my book EXCEPT for one thing. The low end in the SVTF is virually non existent while there is gobs of it on the SPEC-V. But it seems like there is more top end on the SVTF than on the SPEC-V. So here is my main question given the aftermarket on each with basic bolt ons and MAYBE FI which one would you buy the SVTF or the SPEC-V???? In pure performance in stock form which one would you buy. Thanks in advance for your time and input.

Well, most of us SVT owners probably considered the Spec. With the Spec you can get big Brembo brakes and an lsd. With the Focus you can get some HIDs, a good sound system, badass Recaro seats, and some other cool stuff.
Check out the Nissan forums. I'm pretty sure those Specs are in the mid 14s with bolt-ons. |

I actually made that choice. As I stated in the other thread I'm a big Nissan fan. The SE-R was built poorer (IMO). The interior on the Nissan doesn't even compare to an SVTF. I think that the edge goes to the Nissan when you look at aftermarket support as well as factory performance options. I choose the SVTF then when I went about a month later for another vehicle I really tried to get to like the Sentra enough to purchase it but couldn't. I also here from a friend locally that is way big into Nissan's that there have been a few transmission problems. In all honesty I will suggest looking elsewhere for a vehicle but if it absolutely has to be one of the two, go SVTF.

Okay...I've driven both... The spec V has a nice list of goodies , but they just don't work all that well together for me.. I'm not saying it was a crappy car, in fact it is very nice, I just think the focus worked much better ( from a performance standpoint) as a whole... Also the specv had terrible oversteer

it depends on what your into....if im on the highway chilling and something rolls up beside me id rather be in a svtf than a sentra cause their top end sucks......

theres quite a few magazine comparisons between the two cars...
road and track did a few and said this... "Consider this parlor trick: Both the SVT Focus and Sentra SE-R Spec V have identical Continental 215/45-17 tires and weigh within 50 lb. of each other. Yet the Focus generates 0.85g of grip versus 0.81g, in addition to being a little quicker through the slalom, while maintaining about the same ride comfort. The polish shows on the track, where the Focus tracks cleanly and precisely, cutting arcs with a minimum of wasted motion and the least tire scrub of the group." in that one the svt won road and track had a great one where did raced these cars around a track and judged mostly by lap times, in the comparo they had Dodge SRT-4 Ford SVT Focus Honda HFP Civic Si Mazda Mazdaspeed Protegé Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Nissan Nismo Sentra SE-R Spec V S-Tune Toyota TRD Celica GT-S and they where driven by proffesional race car drivers not the magazine editors. they said about the sentra which came in 2nd... "...the Sentra's engine is never at a loss for power. And even though its relatively modest 6200-rpm redline requires plenty of shifting at the track, its low-end grunt makes slicing through around-town traffic a breeze." and they said about the focus which came in third "Unlike the SRT-4 or, to a lesser degree, the Mazdaspeed Protegé and Nismo Sentra, the Focus feels less like the sum of its performance parts and more like a single, synchronized unit. Driving it is so easy as to be almost uninvolving." BTW guess which car came in first |
