Focus Vs. Cobalt!

I'd of thought that after 3 pages someone would of mentioned the obvious, gear ratio's. being no one did ...

Focus Duratec horsepower to the ground vs gear (assuming 150HP)

1st -- 550.5hp
2nd -- 320.4hp
3rd -- 217.2hp
4th -- 154.2hp
5th -- 115.05hp


Slobalt SS N/A (assuming 170hp)

1st -- 608.6hp
2nd -- 343.4hp
3rd -- 229.5hp
4th -- 166.6hp
5th -- 137.7hp


variations,
1st -- 58.1hp
2nd -- 23hp
3rd -- 12.3hp
4th -- 12.4hp
5th -- 22.65hp


So, drivers race it is. Cobalt spins and wastes first gear they have to play catchup. Second they'll catch some, but depending on how big of a lead the Focus has it might not pass them. Third and higher they'll real the Focus in slowly.

my good ol Powerworks zetec walked on a bunch of cars the Cobalt SS being one.. 263whp running 13.1, Leave it to a focus to do that!

Well actually last year I was tenths of a second slower than a S/C SS. This year, providing I get traction, I should be able to beat one, 1/4 mile.

Only downside is I have to find one now. The kid I was racing last year got his repo'd. It was a stage 2 car and he could drive it pretty damn good.

about even. the cobalt slightly pulled on top end, about half a car. clean starts, 3 times.

both of us were doing 14.0 times at the track with bad wheel hop. i'm about a 13.7 if i would have had a good launch.

what kind of whp were you pushing im guessing you were running the stock pulley set up?

Even tho it suffers from heatsoak i enjoyed running 14psi out of it nothing like having a 2700pound 250+ hp car

I ran against a stock turbo Cobalt and he blew my doors off. I dont remember what he ran, i think it was a high 13's. I ran a 15.2.

My buddy just sold his SVT for a Cobalt SS/TC. That is one sick little car. I think he said its 260 WHP and 260 WTQ is that true? Also, what number do a boosted SVT put out?

depends on the f/i setup a boosted svt will get ya anywhere from 200 hp to 500+
