Raced an old guy in a Z28

So I'm driving home from picking up some coffee creamer when I see a red light ahead of me. It turned green before I got to it so I go through it at about 45. There was a camaro z28 stopped at it that Ihappened to pass. So he comes up a few seconds later and passes me gunning it the entire way. So I just happen to catch him at the next red light and he's sitting ther reving the crap out of his car looking at me. Keep in mind this guy is like 50. So I smile and figure what the hell, I'll give it a go even though I'm gonna get served. So I rev back. The light turns green and we're off. I took him off the line by a lot. I'm talking like a car length. He didn't peel out at all. So he catches up and shifts a little bit after I do and drops back like another car length. I guess thats what you call granny shifting. So I'm, ahead of him again and he catches up again and pulls in front of me and drops back again as he shifts. I start laughing because this guy has absolutely no idea what he's doing. So I keep going and he passes me again. He did a little better shifting into 4th, not dropping back so much, and finally passes me and stays passed me. So I slow up and catch him at the next light wher he turns right. He gave me a thumbs up and a big smile and went on. Another funny thing is that this car was not stock. It at least had an aftermarket exh system judging by the sound. I almost beat a Z28. Funny.

Knowing you vehicle, knowing how to shift, etc. are definately as important as the car!

fyi if you run into any mid-late 80s iroc z28's you might be able to beat them even if theyre driven well, slowest z28s of all time and ran in the low 15's i believe, i wanna catch one so i can say i beat a z28

you know unlike fords, GM auto's are just about the same time through the 1/4mile, given your talking about 93-present.

I know for a fact it was a manual judging by how far back he dropped each time he shifted, and it was a newer one with the new body style. I don't know exactly what year though.
