LED dome light

Just bought a LED dome light and it seems to be very slightly on when the car is running with the switch set to only come on when the door is open. Also when the car is off it stays on but very dim. Have to check tonight if it goes off eventually. The salesmen said the led store power and thats why it stays on.

Any thoughts guys?

Yeah I think ive heard of that happening before. Although mine has never done that.

Also this should be in Interior mods and upgrades.

LEDs can produce noticeable glow at 1/1000 of rated current. If you push 0.5mA through a 350mA, it won't be bright, but you will see it glow. So the slightest leakage current can cause it to glow. If it BOTHERS you, you can use a pull-down resistor across the bulb. Something like 1W 1kOhm.

You don't notice it with a regular light bulb, because quite a bit of power is needed to get the filament going.

yeah its normal and it wont kill your battery or anything. The soft glow from it shouldnt be much of a distraction at night but if it is, you can as xFOCIx suggested above.

It seems that on the door setting there is some slight power going to the bulb, even with the doors closed. I had to replace a map light and felt that the contacts/bulb for the stock filament in the dome were slightly warm, even though the doors hadn't been opened in 45 minutes or so. I was concerned about this at first but it appears to be normal

My LED lights do the same - slight glowing that is only noticeable at night.

I don't want to drain the battery. How can I fix this so it cuts completely off without having to turn it on and off each time I get in and out?
