continuing on Topic, im also a fan of the SVT (cause i drive one), but i can see an issue in that the SVT is pretty low, at least when compared to a standard Focus, and in the dirt, thats not necessarily an advantage. Keep ground clearance in mind when you are looking to buy.

To the OP, if you really want to get into road racing, it'd be a good opotion to pick up an old focus spec car. Much cheaper than going through the conversion process of street car to race car.

when you modify the suspension for a rally car, you raise the sucker up 2-3 inches. maybe more. and the suspension can cost more then you paid for the car. for dirt, the SVT is almost perfect cause you don't want too much power, too much torque will have you spinning around corners, and in FWD, that can be a big problem!

go with a 03 zx3 i have one and been takeing the car on some rough dirt
roads outside town and for it still haveing stock suspension it goes through it like a champ just make a skid plate becuse the oil pan sits kinda low or atleast on my car it does but the zetec got alot of spunk in it throw a few bolt ons and you can be set to rally but i would recomend geting some raceing seats and all that good stuff and get rid of the cargo cover that thing get anoying after some time lol.
