Ok here we go. All the work on the valves that I did was for nothing. After I installed the head and torqued the ARP studs down. I was looking at the cams, and the lobes were pointing in the wrong direction. So I got the cam timing plate out and sure enough the cam`s are in the wrong way. Swapped intake for exhaust. I didnt notice the cam timing lobe on the intake cam. So I started checking. When i redid the buckets , I did one cam at a time. What I found, really pisses me off. The machine shop installed them wrong, because whom ever scribed the cam #`s on each cam did them wrong. The I is on the exhaust side and the E is on the other cam. Well , good thing I caught it. So I swapped the cams to the right side. And started to re do the clearances again. Only now, the gaps are so far off, I cant come up with the right size buckets. No gap with the feeler gauge on the exhaust side .0015 , and an avg gap of .019 on the intake. Did the machine shop grind the stems to make them fit ?
I will post some pics of the cams and the #`s scribed on them.

EDIT: You can see from the pics on the previous page , Dated 6/15/11 that when I was measured the clearances that the pic i took was of the Intake cam (the timing lobe is clearly visible )On the exhaust side. And then I reposted on the 19th that I redid the gaps again. I started to second guess my self ! But there is the proof. Guess I can post them here..

I would call McNews and ask. The engine builder said one thing. Comp Cams Said .010 on both the intake and the exhaust. But my Tuner , Tom wants .010 intake and .011 exhaust. I will listen to Tom. The head is going back to the builder to get the new intake valves installed and the exhaust valves ground to fit. This time I marked the intake cam for them. And I sent it back with the cams in the correct places.

In this first picture. I have already put the cams where they are supposed to be. You can clearly see the part # and the E for exhaust. Except look down the cam, see the lobe for the Cam sensor... Of course Comp Said tough shit. The engine builder should have known the difference. They are right. But it didnt help either. So the machine shop is redoing the valves for me. Thanks Victory.

This is a clearer pic of the part number . But this is the intake cam.

The cams are on the correct sides. But now they can not be set correctly.
To little a gap on the exhaust. They will need to be ground down on the stems to fit. And the intake side is so large , new valves are being installed.
