true. funny thing is if you were to use lingo other than "short-throw shifter," this whole ish would probably never have started, lol! oh well.

I don't even really think that it was the "short throw" comment that threw it off. He never claimed to gain any performance out of it just claimed that the push to shift was quicker. I am still confused about what actually started it.

"you might be able to shift a little faster... but you are still driving an ATX. you will get no performance gains from this mod"

This comment confused me because if he shifts faster with the ATX isnt that what a MTX short throw does? MTX short throws don't add performance gains either just changes the shift point when the gear engages to make the throw between gears quicker.

Now I would have to say that I am a little sceptical on whether or not the throws are quicker on the ATX after this mod since the shift points on the ATX were not changed. It might give the illusion that it is shifting quicker since there is less material (the stick) travling but the shift points were not changed. I guess it is all how you perceive things.

I forgot...Like I said before...I like what you did. I plan on doing this to mine when I get the time. I would also like to say that I am not ragging on anyone by what I said above.

I told the guy to post a new thread about this. I kinda feel bad cause he is getting some backslash from it. Either way, it's a creative way to change up the interior. As for a shorter throw, it probably is. The STS for the manual are more 'short' cause of the shortness of the shifter shaft. Shift points change but the REAL "Short" part is the height of the shifter.

Anyway, I still think that is a cool mod for the ATX brothers out there.

For real S2 people on here think they are car gods. I mean WTF why bash someone for what they did, like or are going to do. I will be doing this personally when i get the time and tools. I did this to an old escort bout ten years ago and i think it helps the interior look better. Mother[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]ers need to stop hating on this and everyone else here. It was a good idea PZEV05ZTW thanks for the info man.

I just feel bad about it, seriously I TOLD him to post a new thread so that others with the ATX can see and know that there is another 'option' of the very few available to change up the shifter. I had zero idea that it would have come off like this.

I really hope he's not talking about shifting through the gears manually as in throwing it down in 1, then to 2, then D. Keep that up and have fun buying a new tranny. You'll melt the clutch plates to the gears.
