When Ford has assigned one. As to when that happens, there seems to be some complex formula involving date ordered, dealer priority, options ordered, anything that might be on hold (like paint colors), etc. So could be a week later, or many weeks later. Once a VIN has been assigned your dealer should be able to provide it to you.

So a 1.5 month wait might still be within the realm of possibility, due to algorithmic voodoo?

Yup, I've been trying pretty much every day since I got my VIN and still no sticker.

Sigh.

Yes. But 8 weeks after ordering I'd be bugging your sales rep to find out what the hold up is on the order.

Huh? That doesn't make any sense. Are you sure you have the right VIN? It doesn't generate a sticker at all? One thing I found with that site, you need to type in the VIN (case doesn't matter) and click the button (not press return). At least in Chrome. If you have a VIN you technically have a sticker because your order is in Ford's system, with all your options.

Have you tried ETIS? Anything show up there?

If you're not getting anything anywhere I'd double check your VIN with your sales person.

All I get is the sad refrain that I've committed to memory by now: "The VIN entered was not found in our system."

Nothing interesting. Shows that it's a Focus with a model designator of C346N, and a build date of "30.11.0002" (thanks, but if it was built 2,008 years ago I don't want it). And the "Minor Features" list has one entry: "Michigan Plant Built".

He gave me an updated copy of the DORA, with the VIN that was added on 24 June 2011. This is the VIN I've been entering in the vain hope of retrieving a sticker.

Ah, isn't the Blue Candy one of the colors that was discontinued because of the crisis in Japan? Or was it the other blue?

Nope, that was Kona Blue.

UPDATE:

Went in there... I think there was a communication issue between the salesman and the finance guy.

They made me an offer that was hard to refuse.

15% back in form of a check.
Free remote start install. ($500 value)
The paint and interior protection package install (plus warranty against any interior damage).

They offered to refund all the $$ to FMCC. I just took the deal.

Might I add that they took my $750 private cash that was expired, plus the $500 college rebate, PLUS the $500 financing rebate. So I view it as a wash and I get the remote start.

there's another way to see your sticker, found this link on forums somewhere:

www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdfvin=XXXXXXXXXXXXX&refid=DC&hash=4c853b91e1aabdd02bc4fd59daca7&pacode=02771&modelid=226

copy and paste above url, substituting your VIN for the X's after the "vin=". hope that shows up ok after i post this...
