Any chance the MFT fix will require parts from Japan? If so, we could be in for a LONG wait.

They are scheduling stock orders with MyFord Touch, but a very large percentage of them fail testing, and are being held. For this reason, MFT cars will be very rare at dealers (good lock walking onto a lot and buying one any time soon), you are mainly going to see S/SE and some SELs. There are plenty of MFT Stock cars that are built, but they are piled up waiting for a solution.

So yeah, if you have MFT on your order, don't hold your breath.

But the good news about them doing it this way (holding the Retail cars until the solution is found), is that once they have the solution, the cars being built wil ship immediately, instead of having to wait for the 2500+ cars they have on site to be fixed.

I have no idea but my guess would be a matter of reprogramming the system.

It is a software problem. In fact not a terribly a complicated or bad one, so I don't think the delay will be too long, but who knows, bugs can be hard to find sometimes.

The only thing I heard rumors of was that the batteries for the Focus Electric are coming from Japan, so there may be a delay there. But I don't think Ford is sourcing anything for the regular Focus.

I can just imagine the firestorm Ford would get if people started up their brand new 2012 Focus and saw the blue Microsoft crash screen! I'd love it if it was an Apple system in there. Of course, it'd be called something silly like iCar or iFord or something, and it would cost 5836583947 times more.

From what I was told by a factory rep. trainer the one in the Focus is a little different and is upgraded.

I am sure the software is a little different. Off the top, it doesn't have the heated seats controlled through the climate tab and the ambient lighting is also not controlled by myford touch. It also doesn't have to interface with the instrument cluster the same way since the Focus doesn't have the "dual screen" setup from the Edge and Explorer.

The wheels retail at $495, and the total dealer invoice price with A-plan and rebate is 18,888.
