No it's not too much to ask... I'm going through torture not calling my salesman to ask if they got it off the train yet... or detailed it yet... I'm a kid on xmas eve. 'Cept I'm jewish and never had to enjoy this anticipation ever in my life. Torture I tell you! My coworkers get mad at me for even mentioning the car, and a friend said I was stalkerish!

Tell me I'm not alone?

My salesman gave me crap for asking for updates. I had good reason too, had to have the order revised half way through on account of color. If he had been more diligent earlier? Might have had my car by now. Now in limbo.

calling every day might be excessive, but calling once a week shouldn't be. my dealership gets updated info wed afternoons so i give them a call thursday morning if he doesn't contact me first (we email too). though my sales guy is a friend of mine and he's good about keeping in touch, but there is no way a sales guy should give you crap about contacting him for an update, or pushing him if he's too lazy to get information. you're the customer and you're paying several thousand dollars. he should be doing his job. if my sales guy gave me any problem his management and ford would be hearing about it and he wouldn't be my sales guy any longer.

I'm in pretty much the same boat, except I'd consider myself agnostic.

Called the dealer this morning for update. No info at this time. Order went in 5/18 for Candy Red SEL Hatch. Salesman said color was not on hold. He said the plant might be on shutdown (probably not). He did get the VIN for customer who ordered 5/9.

Right there with you. Ordered mine on May 16, but the dealer didn't submit the order until the 19th. Five weeks to get a VIN, and nothing since. My dealer has stopped returning my calls and replying to e-mails, but I did get a PM from a kind soul on here who looked up my VIN and said it showed a build date of July 25. That's already outside the 8-10 weeks I was quoted, and doesn't include getting it across the continent (and across the border). I'm thinking I might go car shopping this weekend.

Ugh...I hope I'm not looking at the same thing. Still haven't received a VIN, and I'm also ordering a Blue Candy Titanium Hatch. And I was quoted 8-10 weeks a few days after you ordered yours.

Wow, the way that dealer is treating you is simply unacceptable! I feel for you. It'll never matter how good the product is if the dealships don't step up to the plate and start offering the kind of customer service that is deserved!

"in production" in this case likely only means it's scheduled for a particular week, and I would assume based on the ETA that build date is after the vacation shutdown. I've read of morale problems due to overworking, and based on all the quality issues I have, I completely believe it. Perhaps it's for the best yours is being built after they've had vacations.
