well, i will let you know when i can actually get my hands on it.
it would be cool to maybe make it to where you can still use stock crash foam and bar, but then you wont be able to make a mold of it. (just a thought)

Uh, NO! You would lose the whole euro sleek and slim profile. It would then stick out 4"-5" more just like the US version does. That's in part what makes the US bumper so damn ugly cuz it sticks out like a giant step. Besides, trying to convert one to US spec to then mold would cost a small fortune.

So this replica bumper is being made as slim as the true euro one, or is it being made bigger to be used with the stock crash bar?

The mold is being made from an F2 standard body bumper. The F2 bumpers were made for American cars not european. So yes you will still use your stock crash bar.

Us cars only have to pass crash test when manufactured. After that you can remove it if you want. Its not illegal. Now removing your air bag or cat technically is. Of course if you get rear ended really bad and shop notices non US spec crash bar or lacke thereof then they could deny claim and then you're sol.

And as far as shops not forwarding insurance claims because of missing crash bars, or having non-NA crash bars, that's something I might go and ask a local shop today. In the end, body shops dealing with insurance companies is big business (I know here in BC it is...inflating body shop costs just because insurance companies will pay). |
