2008 Focus radio won't work after changing battery

Last night I changed the battery in my o8 Focus and now the radio does not work. I called the local dealership and they say that there isn't a code, never heard of this happening before. I googled it and it says that there are codes, of course one company needs the serial number of the radio and they will sell the code. I called another dealership and they say it probably needs to be reset but I have to bring it in and they will run diagnostics on it at $125/hr.
Really? Seriously? I have had Civics and you just open the glove compartment and there is the code you need! Is there anyway I can rest this radio myself?
I am having a seriously bad day, might go psychotic and drive this thing into a wall!

i would make sure first that you have the right size batter, it might not have the juice to run it. also i would just pull the fuse out for the radio and plug it back in to see if it works. if this doesnt work, try pullin the radio out and unplugging it from the dash and remove the battery to let it reset its self. if none of this doesnt work i would just say go to the dealership and pay the ridiculous rates

Posted via FF Mobile Agreed, pull fuse see if it's dead. Also try reseting your radio, there must be buttons you press to do so. Check your manual. Example mine I press EJ and LOAD and the thing will reset. Also try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again. Disconnect it and leave it for 15mins. Reconnect and that will reset the cars ecu. If your radio still doesn't work after all that take it to ford.

Your not still under warranty? Your cars only an 08...they should just replace the thing for free.

Something else must be wrong to be replacing the battery this soon in an 08. Mine is almost three years old from when I bought it and my trip back home will enter me in the 100,000 mile club. The stock battery should last at least five or six years.

I have a factory battery- 05 model, 135k miles. Check your ground terminal wires, pull on each one of the small ones individually to be sure that their ring terminals are not damaged. If one comes loose, then there's your problem. I would expect more than a non-working radio though.

You should also check out the radio fuse. Look in the owner's manual for fuse location and descriptions. Pull the fuse to visually check it, and put it back in. That alone might help you figure out what's going on. Oh, and push on the volume button to turn it on.

Found the answer - the code numbers are in the glove compartment - just type them in and pressing chanel 5 to store them - and the radio works as a new one
