Normally you just look at the vin number to tell you which motor you have. Since you've got an '04 your car should have a 2.3 just like every other '04 duratec car.

If you want to know if you've got an '05-'07 then the vin will have a "Z" as the 8th digit.

If your engine is a Zetec it is a 2.0L engine.

The Duratec engine was also available in 2.0L and 2.3L sizes.

Oh ok thanks. One last question. I got some plugs for the 2L DOHC (didn't say zetec or duratec), was the duratec also a DOHC? Is there a difference in the plugs used between the 2?

right. 2.0L zetec and 2.3L duratec PZEV available in that year.

if the intake is at the front like the above posted picture, it is a 2.3L. If it's not there and there's a heat shield (so, an exhaust manifold) it's the 2.0L
