What is the plastic part under the bumper called?

Hi all,

I have a Focus LX 2002 model, and the plastic part under the bumper has completely disappeared. Must have fallen off somewhere. I was wondering what it was called and where I can get a replacement for relatively cheap, and would it be easy to fit back on? Is it called a valance?

Thanks for any input.

wky

I believe that's what we call the "splash shield", but we really need a body man to verify that is the proper name for it.

I need one as well, and I think your best bet is to go hunting for one in a junkyard.

Yeah, splash shield, or splash guard. The Junk Yard may do the trick, probably get one from Ford for pretty cheap as well.

^^ I'm going to have to check on that myself, a freaking wild house cat KOed mine about 4 am one morning. You honk your horn, you're right beside an 18 wheeler, but the stupid thing waits until the very last second before it stops eating the carrion instead of letting you tenderize it more. Then it has to smash the splash shield right in front of the stealth air cleaner. I'm aiming and accelerating at the next one- probably lose an oil pan this time.

Ford parts site says it's a lower shield. It's listed for $28.60, $18.88 with discount.

Rock Auto list it as Lower Engine Cover with OEM PN YS4Z8310HB.
About $12 before shipping.

Does a lot of water ever manage to get above the splash shield where a cold-air intake might reside? You a random concern for CAI users in wet weather. =D

It looks like we're talking the front end, center piece. Most cars lost those somewhere along the way. I checked pricing over a year ago when I lost mine ~ $30 a piece.

You most likely will need the left and right pieces too since they are all connected together when installed.

Center Piece Description

YS4Z*8310*HB - 002DEFLEC

Left/Right Pieces

YS4Z*8310*CA - 002DEFLEC
YS4Z*8311*CA - 002DEFLEC

I've been looking for these at salvage yards too - they are rarely seen on any cars there. Don' forget the mounting hardware too.
