I may end up taking a week off for the experience, but as far as sticking to the caravan schedule, I'm all for it. I just think the drive back should be the more leisurely part of the trip. You know, see a little bit of America on the way back, no big rush. That's all I meant, really.

Gotcha ... well ... my job only gives me so much time off ... So, unfortunately, it will be the same kind of drive up and down.

I don't plan on rushing either going or coming. I think that the Dallas/TSC guys all agree on making this a evenly split trip as possible with an overnight stay somewhere around Memphis. You gotta remember that its still summertime vacation for a lot of folks and finding a room for the night might take some searching. Plus there is something to be said about having a good meal, hot shower, and a bed to sleep in berfore hitting the road for another long drive. I like my car but not to sleep in. I agree on keeping everyone together as much as possible but as you know it proves difficult at times, safety should be our priority much easier to help some one with a flat or breakdown during the daylight hours instead of pitchblack in the middle of nowhere. of course everything could be agreed upon or discussed more at TFR11. See you there...

I'm thinking more of a stop in Nashville (10hrs from DFW), that way it gets more of the drive out of the way.
With the current job I don't get paid days off so I may not leave until Friday.

We need to consider that the San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and other points will have another 2.5 to 4hr drive on top of where we decide to make our overnight stop 8.5 to 10hrs (from Dallas). If the plan is to meet/join up with the other groups at the Ray Hubbard location and then depart at a reasonable time (early 8:00am at the latest 9:00am) to make the 10hr drive as suggested, would require an extremely early departure for our other focus brothers let's say 4 or 5 in the morning. A ballpark 14hrs is a long day on the road and a stop somewhere between Memphis and Nashville is definetly needed. The early departure time from Dallas is only a suggestion and it would place us in our yet to be decided overnight stop around dinnertime. We would still have to find lodging and it can be difficult unless we go way off the interstate. We also have to consider the group size it may prove difficult to find rooms for every one at one location and for everyone to come to agreement on price of the room. The closer we get to Nashville the prices go up for lodging and the harder they are to obtain without reservations. I would rather have a room early than to be driving around late at night trying to find a place to stay adding more hours to an already long drive. Just sayin... cause I've been there and done that and kicked myself in the ass for doing it. I'm sure we can work out a reasonable plan for everyone.

All very valid points, Ben. These are the things that make a large caravan the logistical SNAFU that it is.

Jackson, TN seems to have some reasonable hotel room prices.

For me arriving at Lake Hubbard at around 12:00PM or 1:00PM would probably be more realistic. If we leave around 2:00PM from Lake Hubbard, we'll probably arive in Memphis around 11:00PM. Then its only another 7 Hours to hotel in KY.
