DIY shorty antenna results *pics*

Hey guys. Today I decided I would shorten the stock antenna myself. It was a pain in the ass to get the top cap off but It was worth it. It looks better than stock and it was free! Here are some pics:

The antenna makes my car look almost as cool as the svt off on the side...

This is a before and after using the stock antenna on the svt. The angle and distance I shot the pics at makes my antenna look bigger than it actually is. It is a little more than half the size of the stock antenna before I cut it.

How is your reception? Have you tried it out yet. When you do tell us if you noticed any differences in reception between the normal antenna and the Home Made shorty.

Hey SD, did you use my writeup on here to do this mod, curious?

Papa, you won't lose much if any at all reception. I have gone into the mountains with my custom made shorty and no problems at all.

I knew I would be risking reception when I did this and I forgot to mention it. There is a small difference for some stations with signals that aren't very strong. They seem to be a bit fuzzier. Most stations still play the same for me. It was a risk I was willing to take, since I listen mostly to cd's

S2 - I read instructions here a while ago to do this so it might have been from your thread, I'm not sure. It was fairly easy, with the exception to the cap being hard to take off.
