no/cutting back on the beer

...im suprised somone didnt make this thread yet.....ive been a steady 155 almost since ive been 18...i am tall, but do have muscle mass (my cheesy profile pic depics me before hittn the beer real hard lately)...for unknown reasons to me yet ive let my beer drinking get out of hand and i am now at 180, i now have a spare tire for the first time in my life and my pecks arent shapen the way they used to be....my metabolism holds it there for the time being..but my brother and i have the same thing goin on...if we stop drinking for a week or two then the weight dissapears on its own..regardless of what we eat..(i realize that metabolisms slow down with age but ours is insane hyperactive)...but anyone working out to achieve a weight loss goal or a get tone/mass goal should always consider the negative effects of beer/alcohol...they do turn into carbs in the end...anywya, just thought id chime in on this new section...wayy cool.

not to mention beer is estrogenic. The hops are terrible for you ironically, since beer with lots of hops is considered manly and tastes better. Beer will give you man boobs. Granted I LOVE good beer

What about liquor, Rum and Vodka mainly? I like my drinks but can live without beer, if I stick with Vodka/Sailor Jerry (dark rum) and OJ will that keep the calories down? I know beer has added a ton a weight to me (I'm 5'10" @ 215lbs), and I've stayed a stable weight since 07 and if stopping that will help drop it I'll damn sure give it a try.

^^^ Holy Shit dude, if you like Sailor Jerry, try The Kraken rum. Same type of rum as Jerry, same percentage alcohol, and smoother. A buddy of mine and I were sipping it on the rocks last Friday. In terms of alcohol, it will inhibit muscle growth a bit if you are working out, but I like to drink. I mainly do it on the weekends when I am not lifting, but getting piss drunk on Sunday nights probably affects my monday workouts. Liquor is pretty simple though in terms of what it is. It obviousl isn't carb heavy like beer. Vodka for example is literally ethanol and water. Thats it

you would be suprised what i can fit into alex....truth is she borrowed that top from me...lol....and beer has more carbs and calories that somthing like vodka (hense the term beer gut)...even drinking white and red wine is low fat...so yeah, weight loss and some mixed drinks are alot less fattening than a standard beer.

Back when I was lifting constantly (up to 12 hours a week) I would drink every now and then.... but just one or two once or twice a week.

Now that in no way means you can go out and drink every night and expect to keep making gains in the gym.
