im in the process of quiting. im at about 3 aday from a pack a day. but after i work out (bjj) i dont feel the need to have a smoke. and i also gained about 15 lbs hince why i started to work out. and started drinkin about 6pack aday. so i dont know whats better/healthier. my dad did the ecig (no nicotine) and hasnt had one in 2months but says its only a crutch.

and my cousin hes a doctor (i have no idea what kind lol) he recommended a pill called Wellbutrin its actually a antidepresent and quiting smoking is a side affect.

I only smoke because I started smoking, make sense?
Will nicotine gum/patches keep you from getting irritable? 100% relief or just 50%?

I noticed with the patch that I would have to shave a spot to make it stick properly, which sucked because You're supposed to use a different spot every time, and I'm a hairy monkey, lol. When not applied properly, it would come up off the skin, and I would press it down and get sick from a bit of a nicotine overdose. Didn't seem to help Me with irritability, but no two brains work the same, so what works for You may not work for Me, and vice versa.

Bunch of smokers ... j/k

I have had friends that smoke that say the patch doesn't do anything for them ... but nicotine gum helps alot.

Would dedicating your mind to something else help? Maybe pick up an instrument?

Not at all. I play a bunch of percussion instruments as well as the bass guitar and a little mandolin. I think when I'm practicing, it makes it worse to be honest. You might be good for the duration of playing it but when you look up it's a worse craving then normal. I guess it has something to do with being so focused on one thing for so long then BAM! nicotine!
I know at least for me smoking is a relief from stress and so on a so forth so while your practicing and trying to get better it's actually pretty stressful.
My name is Karyn! What's yours?

Coming from an X smoker. I smoked for over 45 years. The last 10/15 years I was up to 3 pk a day. Retirement was just around the corner and I knew after that I couldn't afford it after I retired. I tried many things over many years but nothing worked.

The thing that worked for me was Chantix, think that is the correct spelling, and the fact I knew I had to stop. It's been over 5 years now and haven't picked up a cigarette in that time.

Just for what it's worth for those that want to stop.
