Hood latch cable broke.

The lever inside the car that you pull on came off along with tiny metalliac wires. I read on focaljet that its a $35 replacement thru the dealership. Anybody else have this same problem? How much did it cost you for the dealership to fix? Its very cold out.

Hmm ... I don't think I have ever used the lever.

I think they meant $35 for the part. For Ford to do it, they "shouldn't" charge more then $130. considering labor rate is around $90 a hour and the part is $35 so no more then $130, if they tell you more then I would do it your self it can't be that hard, never did it myself but I see where it runs and it's proble going to save you lot of money to just get the part and do it yourself in under a hour.

That cable can be a bit of a pain in the ass to replace too. You will have to remove the driver's headlight and center grill to gain access to the point to remove it. And then the cable runs on the backside of the transmission giving you something else to cuss about as you're busting your knuckles removing it lol. I had thought about just removing mine and going with hood pins or a Euro locking mechanism for my hood.

LOL ... sorry had to post this ... was late last night reading this.

For some reason I was thinking the Trunk release and not the Hood release.

goodness, If I never used the front one ... I would be in major trouble.

Just thought I would throw out a good laugh.
