So I have decided to park my car in the garage this winter and go at it. Its time to get my car cleaned up and make it an attention getting. Right now it kinda seems like a car that any Honda fan boy could do. I plan on doing this with OEM plus style mods. The car is in the garage for now, but I can't really tear into the engine as I have to wait till after Christmas to put my decorations away.

The build list...

  • install camber plates
  • install poly front sway bar bushings
  • install SVT header swap (I have the header and flex currently)
  • build a custom 2.5" exhaust
  • install new CF trunk lid (the first ever MK1 CF trunk lid)
  • make a new custom hood
  • more low [clap]
  • install Roush spark plug cover on the Contour valve cover
  • engine bay wire tuck
  • paint and clean a few items in the bay
  • possible batter relocation
  • shaved rad support
  • more as I think of it

My custom hood from last year is gone. It went to an awesome car and a good guy so it will live on here in Nor Cal.

Engine bay as it sits right now. I've already done a few things, degas cover and replaced the painted fuse box cover with a OEM.

Yes its getting wire mesh. It matches the pattern of a euro grill as well.

Not sure on the hood, never really liked the last one to be honest, it doesn't flow in my opinion.
Its cool. I figure its worth a try, if it throws the whole thing off then I get a new hood. Hoods are a dime a dozen and I can paint one really easy. I want to try and do something different.

can I come over and play....looks like fun
Sure can, what time does your plane land?

Duh this is Cali. Its only 45* most nights right now. Even I go outside naked at night to let the dog out.

cant just go more low... gotta go wide too silly bear.
Tuck them tires!

in prep for FR11 perhaps [;)]?

looking forward to this build thread!
Perhaps. Not making any promises right now.

I want to see the wire mesh, but what about the water that will come through it? Where is it going to end up getting on, and it won't make anything malfunction? I've always wondered about this mod cause I don't see how water getting into the engine like that is good at all?

Yea they do but won't it make it worse coming from the top? Well where it that hole hanging over the manifold or cam cover?

If the manifold, won't it smoke from every drop that hit's it?

If over the cam cover won't water build up and make it more of a hazard for wire's corroding?

I have had my ViS Invader hood on my car for over three years and never had a problem with water pouring on top of the motor. It just makes for nice water spots on everything after a rain lol. If your engine electricals are well maintained you won't have to worry about a little bit of moisture getting in. As long as you don't have the hole directly over the intake and driving through a hurricane you should be fine as well.

I'll adjust the camber in on the rear tires tomorrow. Also need to pound flat my inner fender on the drivers side. The passenger side was done already. Going to be working on a friends Focus tomorrow, so I may or may not get to the fronts tomorrow.

I wish I knew what you did to drop it...lol. that's perfect. And are the isolators those rubber "donuts"?

hood looks like it should be good too.... I'm guessing mesh maybe? we'll just have to wait.

sorry, I saw (now that I read through the posts) you were putting mesh in. it should be awesomet though. Saw one local that did it evo style and it looked great.

"More Low" is not exactly what I was looking for [poke] what did you drop it on, coilovers?
