Yeah, but when the Joint chiefs get together and determine that the 30 year old targeting technology doesnt need support anymore, you must change your AFSC to re-enlist. The only option they gave me was Security Forces. So, i took my DD 214 and said goodbye.

Being Security Forces, I can honestly say I would have done the same thing. But it still remains that you could have re-enlisted if walking/driving/sitting around while wearing ballistic gear and carrying firearms every work day until you make E-7 were appealing to you.

If you enjoy drill it's a great bullet. A guy I worked with had honor guard (along with many other bullets) and it helped him get Airman of the year for the base which in turn helped him get Below-The-Zone for SrA (he put it on 6 months earlier). At my base they used to have special dorms just for people who do honor guard (this is only relevant if you don't have any dependents); real nice rooms, you get your own bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. See how you feel about doing drill after BMT and make a decision once you're settled in at your duty station. I personally have always been terrible at drill so it's not something I've considered doing with my off time.
