UAV's meaning a sensor operator right? Haha. Crew chief is a pretty cool job, too. (That's what tactical aircraft maintenance is usually called) Intel can get pretty crazy.

I'm personally in the communications field. I service all types of computers, radios, and basically all personal electronic devices.

I picked alot of jobs in the Mechanical, and Electrical field. I just talked to my recruiter this morning, and he said UAV's is probably not an option. He said most likely itll be aircraft maintenance.

I was a backshop avionics. 2A0x1C AFSC. loved it, but was stationed in Phoenix for my entire enlistment then not selected for re-up unless i wanted to go Security Forces. Back shop had me in climate controlled room all my time. liked it, cept for the no change in scenery.

pretty much don't sport an Air Force shirt before you go thru basic, or show up with a 'military' haircut... A guy in my flight showed up with a red skunk patch in his hair lol good times.

Avoid getting the AFSC 3P0X1 (Security Forces) at all costs. This means that don't go into basic as "open general", don't let your recruiter "unofficially" add it to your job preference list (this how they got me). This may mean waiting longer to leave for basic that's fine. Also, when you get to tech school push yourself as hard as you can to make sure you pass the course, because most people that fail out of their tech school training become 3P0X1. I have no doubts that my enlistment would be exponentially better if I got a job I wanted.

Also, don't sign up for 6 years. I know it should go without saying but they will attempt to entice you with signing bonuses, putting rank on faster (it's only 6 months faster) and it's not worth it. If you like the 4 years you spend enlisted you can reenlist. If you don't like your enlistment at your 4 year mark as a 6 year enlistee you still have another 2 years. It's much easier to add time in service than remove it. Sign up for 4 years.

Good luck.

Listen to her on this; sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders. How old are you? If you have enough college credits you'll come in with rank anyhow. Don't think about it just do 4 years; you won't regret signing up for 4 years when you're getting your reenlistment bonus and base of preference 2 years sooner.
