Question SVT Lightning chip Mod.

Ok, I am planning on getting an SVT lightning chip for my car, and itwill be tuned for my car.. ...anyone ever try this? Tghey told me it could give me a 100 HP boost, and at least a 55 hp boost. I've had other people tell me on the street scene out here it wasn't possible, and no way was it possible to get a 100 hp boost out of any chip, that the most I could get was 55 BHP for ANY chip.

My question is, is this true, either way? Thoughts?

It won't flood me with fuel, cause it is programmed, and the tech says it's been done before. any thoughts?

I've never heard of a chip for our cars that could give us 100+ Horses.....Hell i think some turbo kits give like 50+ horse so i doubt a chip would do that. I know that Toms Turbo Kit gives you above 200 total ponies, so say you're stock with no mods and you just add this chip....that roughly 100hp stock, give or take, at the wheels and this chips alone will give over 200! Not likely...Sounds like a scam of some sort to me. Obiviously the more mods you do the more ponies you'll get and eventually when you're done modding you can add a chip tuned to your car that will free up so horses but not near 100.

even though that's for a non-svt engine i think the principal is still about the same. The only way that i can figure out to get that much out of your motor will be to add NOS but that's only temporary.

yeah no way is it 100 hp or even 55 hp gain. My dad had a 2000 audi S4, and a chip added 60 whp becuase it retuned the twin turbo's to give more boost.
A N/A engine will never get that much out of a chip. Maybe 10-15 if your lucky, but never more then that.

It seems like if this were true, then alot more people would be talking about it, and have it on their cars.

Sounds a little far fetched to me.

First of all, an SVT Lightning is a vehicle with a supercharged V-8 so there is an immediate incompatibility there, and second, no chip will give you a 55hp increase on a non-boosted motor, With custom tuning, it is possible to get that much or more boosted, but the tune has to be super-seriously shitty to have any gains approaching that from an N/A chip. No off the shelf chip can approach this, but a custom chip can on a super-serious N/A project or a boosted one.

This sounds like more ricer hype (no offense kingkill83). Kind of like the kid down my street with a ZX2 that says he has 250hp at the wheels with a CAI, no muffler, and a 50hp shot of nitrous (he says "NOS"). Just doesn't happen that way.

BTW, another local ricer claims to have a 270hp N/A Eclipse. He says it is a J-Spec engine and he has an APEXi fuel controller. Yea, right.

I was just wondering what everyone thought it would do, I didn't think it would be all that much eihter. Should be fuin to see what happens though.....Now wiht that on there, I can begin tuning how i want to.anymore thoughts on this are welcome.

First off there is no way to chip the svt in the first place. The port on the pcm is a dead port, there is no way to chip the SVT Focus at all. At the current time there are only two tuning options (not counting stand alones) which is SCT and Diablo. Both reflash your pcm via the obd2 port (or your can remove your pcm and mail it to SCT). Secondly, those two gain you under 10 pound feet and 5hp....there is no way in the world that is true, especially since you can not chip the SVT Focus in the first place...then to think you will gain that kind of hp and trq....just about the funniest thing Ive heard in a while.
On second thought, this has to be some kind of joke...this is just insane to even think this is possible. Maybe you are new to cars, especially this one apparently. For a rule of thumb on this car n/a you will never see more than a few hp and few pound feet of trq from a reflash on the ecu.

J-spec neon motor (eclipse) ha ha ha ha ha, thats hilarious!!

I had a non turbo Eclipse with EVERY bolt on you can imagine...aem, gude head with beefed cams, pistons (12:1), head, exhaust, cat, pullies, gears, etc. No turbo or nos and I was turning 13.9s...but I had a us motor..lol...jspec...

I live in Dearborn as well, and I would like to know who at Ford is selling you this mod? He is either full of BS (most likely) or he has found the world's greatest hallucinogenic drugs!

Trust me, the chip won't do anywhere near 50hp and the incompatibility issues cited by others would be huge. I am not a big fan of chips due to the lack of tuning and the desctructive events that can go on with their use, and this one looks to be an even bigger disaster than others.
