Strange Turn Signal Issue

I have a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 AT that we bought new, but am having a strange issue with the left turn signal. The light on the dash along with the front light do not work, but the rear one does, it flashes at normal speed (not fast), and also do not work with the hazards. Ive replaced and switched all bulbs and replaced the turn signal switch and am now at a loss to what to check next. I did have a local garage look at it that were at a loss and said they could not figure it out either. I could bring it to a dealer but they are too expensive seeing that i am unemployed at the moment. The car needs to be inspected in a month so this issue needs to be resolved. Any clues would be helpful. I did a search on the board but did not see anything like this issue. I'm Desperate, Thanks.

Between the turn signal switch and the l.f. turn signal stands the hazard switch. It uses inputs from the stop light switch, the turn signal switch, and it's own status (pushed or not) to decide which of the signal lights should be on, off, or blinking. Since the switch is new and you've confirmed the bulbs are good, I would begin by looking there.

I'm looking at a wiring diagram here, and according to it, when the L turn signal is blinking, voltage should be present at the terminal with the blue/white and the blue/black wire (both on one terminal) the blue/white wire is feeding the LF light, the blue/black wire is feeding the tell-tale.

If no voltage is present at that terminal, the switch is probably bad. I don't think this is a problem with fuses or wiring, since the two lights affected have no wiring in common.

Sorry for the late reply, I will try and look at the switch today or tomorrow, have been busy looking for work and the Focus had been busy, I really appreciate the help. Do you thing I should purchase another switch from eBay?

Posted via FF Mobile Try a local junkyard if handy, switch should be very cheap that way and they`re usually guaranteed (as in take it back and grab another to try if it doesn`t work)

Tascaparts.com has them locally. They are $32.08. But I think the shipping is $10.00.
I just reread your first post. Being out of work, stick with eBay or junk yard.

Ordered a used switch from eBay for $8.90 shipped, this is a top rated dealer that i have used before. Will update the thread when i get it and install it. I am just hoping it is not a computer issue or something expensive like that. It does have me stumped tho.

Ok it has been a while, the car has been sitting but just replaced the emergency/hazzard flasher switch and that was the problem. For future reference for anyone with this type of strange directional issue that all the directional wires connect to this emergency/hazard switch, now I have a extra directional switch as that was not the problem. Thank you Blurvfocus!

3 Years later and the switch went bad again, lost the turn signal on one side again in the front and dash only and replacing the switch fixed it again, very strange.

Check this recent one for a possible related issue:

Your repeat bad hazard switch could be a fluke, this came to mind as a possible contributing factor.
