Actually if the meet is after 4 I could make it Friday because I work until 3. Otherwise Saturday I could still make it at 1.

Hey guys, My name is Jonah, and I am in Wauwatosa. Long time FF lurker, just signed the paper's today on a Focus ST in Oxford White. Previously had a 2002 ZTS. Can't wait to get the new car. May try and make it up to the get together. I think the wife works and I am sure I will be itching to drive with the new car. Will let you all know on here if I am going to make it.
But looking for some advice on some all season tires. I'm too cheap for some winters; and I just bought the most expensive thing in my short life thus far, so, sadly I am going for some all seasons for the winter in place of the ST's summer tires. Any suggestions? Discount Tire in Waukesha has some Falken 912's for cheap, 122 a tire and I have a buddy who can install them for me. Some people say they suck in snow, some don't. They are all seasons, from my experience all, all seasons aren't the best in snow, but will at least let you drive in the snow, unlike summers. Thoughts? |

.I realize that you just plunked down a lot of money to buy an ST, but I'd really suggest getting winter tires. You already have summers, and I'm guessing you won't be selling those? If so, there is not much reason to favor all-season over winter tires as your alternate set. They might cost a bit more, but as an example, Tirerack has some 225/55R16 Pirellis for $135 each. I'd also suggest getting a separate set of wheels for the winters to sit on. Again, it's more of an initial investment and they take up space, but you only have to mount tires once, instead of twice a year, and you keep your 18s clean and safe. Plus by going with a 16 or 17 inch winter wheel, you'll save on tire cost, and can get a narrower tire, which is typically better for winter driving. If you happen to lose control with all seasons and hurt your new ST, you'll never forgive yourself. Then again, if we get another winter like last year, you could just keep the summer tires on....
