Can anyone here help me out with a leakdown test on my motor? I need to find out if my motor is screwed in the Miata, but I don't have the tools.

It was running funny and now it's blowing smoke pretty noticeable, running hot, and spitting some type of liquid.

Scott if you're willing to give a hand at figuring out what's wrong with my car I could throw some cash your way. Otherwise I will have to bring it somewhere knowledgeable. Any shop suggestions?

does it have a horribly sweet smell to the exhaust? if so you have a dead head gasket.
the fluid spitting, what color is it? did you take a tase of it (disgusting a know, but a sugary tast is a good indicator of coolant. also how much coolant is in teh expansion tank, etc. not saying that's what it is for sure but there are lots of ways to tell on the cheap.

So, I guess I will be joining the WI Focus club soon. Last night we made a deal to trade our Jeep for a Red 2007 Focus ST with the SAP and 60k miles. The dealer gave use a crazy low offer for my Grand Cherokee last week but after a bunch of phone calls, we ended up with only a $500 difference. I'm excited to get a car that’s fun to drive and good on the gas but worried because this will be my first non 4x4 daily driver. The wife is picking it up now and I'll post pics soon. This will be our second Focus because currently the wife drives a 07 ZX5 SES.
