Any soft fabric is easier to stretch for the upholstering because you can pull it taught better. But that doesn't really matter if you start with the back panels first. I did it with synthetic suede which doesn't stretch at all and that was my first upholstery job; it was cake :)

i'll hit up the fabric store (LOL) and see what they've got.
i did a re-upholster job with synthetic leather on the spot in the back window of a past car, and boy, that was a mess. used rubber cement and electrical tape. haha
atleast i have some good intructions/pics to go by with this one.

Thanks for the instructions, I've been wanting to do this to my 2000 cuz the stock is so boring but i was too scared to mess everything up cuz I didnt know what to do

Not sure on what models they did this but my 03 zx5 has molded ABS plastic inserts on the door panels and not the horrible chipboard. The abs panels come off easy so you can reupholster them.

AWESOME post dude. I was looking for info on this for a really long time. I'm thinking of doing Lime color inserts to match some racing seats and a new paint job i'm getting.
