An autocross is a timed driving event where cars go thru a prescribed course, usually marked with cones. Penalties are added the a drives time for hitting cones. There can be more than one car on course at a time but the starter will start them far enough apart so that no car will ever catch another car. If safety and corner workers are doing their job, a red flag will be raised stopping all of the cars if any one car gets too close to another.

For insurance reasons, SCCA won't use the words "race" and "autocross" together. It is billed as a "skilled dring event".

Sure is a shame.....That was a good looking car. Good that no one was hurt.

The first picture looks like it was taken at a drag strip. Course it may not have ben the same event.
I think it says ST-5.

Defniately never seen anything that bad at an auto-x. There was a camaro that got its passenger side pankaked, but it was because the guy didnt know how to drive. It was on the infield roadcourse of the Texas Motor Speedway, the armco barriers were right next to the track, and the moron spun his car through the very first slolom. No brake lights or anything, I was watching from behind the wreck. Funnniest thing was the corner worker hurdling the wall, he coulda qualified for the olympics he jumped so high. Anyways all the guy had to do was hit the brakes or let off and he would not have hit the wall, but the dude kept his foot in it.
