Hi all. Can anyone help me with this please. I have a Ford Focus 1.6 LX Zetec SE. I am trying to find the temp sensor and was told by Ford that it is on the Thermostat housing. I have looked and its not there so i have no idea where it is. Anyone know. Gunna sound real thick now if anyone has pictures of where it is that would be great .

Which temp sensor are you looking for? Cylinder head temp sensor or coolant temp. The cylinder head temp sensor should be near the alternatior and the coolant temp sensor should be right on top of the thermostat housing. It doesn't have booth so you need to know what kind you need

That is a good Q. I have been into Ford and gave my car reg and they have gave me the coolant sensor. There is defo no sensor in the thermostat housing. I have seen the head sensor near the spark plugs so i guess Ford have got it wrong. I will go tell them how to do their job tmos. Thanks for the help.

Had a mechanic look today and i spoke with a Ford spark. There is no sensor near the alternator we looked. The Ford Spark said if there is no sensor on the thermo housing then its the sensor between the the spark plugs. Thanks for the help guys.

OP is from Britain where the Zetec engine came in different capacities: 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 (I think) as well as a turbodiesel and each engine is slightly different. In contrast, US market only received the 2.0l Zetec engine where the temp sensor (on non-SVT cars) is where you say it is, below the alt.

Now I am really confused. I have a 1.6 Zetec in my 2002. It has never seen England. Am I understanding there is a ONLY a temperature sensor that is mounted underneath the altenator? Does the alternator have to be removed to change it? That means taking off the serp belt, right? I can't get the answer as to why the damn car overheats like crazy. Replaced theromstat, in the housing twice. Is there a diagram as to where this sensor might be?
